3-D WorldRunner (USA)
About This Game
3-D WorldRunner is a forward-scrolling pseudo-3D action game released for the NES in 1987 by Square. The player controls a runner who must navigate an endless obstacle course, jumping over pits and dodging barriers while collecting points.
Story
There is no deep narrative; the game presents a simple premise of a runner racing through a futuristic, obstacle-filled landscape, testing reflexes and endurance.
Guide & Tips
The game auto-scrolls forward; use the D-pad to move left or right to avoid obstacles. Press the A button to jump over pits and low barriers. The B button activates a temporary speed boost (turbo) that helps you clear longer gaps but makes obstacle avoidance harder. Aim to stay near the center of the screen to give yourself reaction time, and anticipate upcoming obstacles by looking at the horizon line.
Controls
D-pad Left/Right: Move left or right; A Button: Jump; B Button: Turbo/Speed boost; Start: Pause; Select: No function.
Trivia
3-D WorldRunner was one of the earliest NES titles to simulate a 3D perspective using background scrolling and sprite scaling, a technical feat for the hardware. It was developed by Square, the studio that later created the Final Fantasy series.
