10-Yard Fight (USA, Europe)

About This Game

10-Yard Fight is an early American football video game developed by Irem and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1985. It features simple, arcade-style football action where players choose offensive or defensive plays and attempt to score touchdowns or stop the opponent.

Story

There is no deep narrative; the game simulates a football match where you strive to outscore your opponent within the limited time.

Guide & Tips

At the start of each down, select a play using the D-pad (run or pass). On offense, press A to throw the ball to a receiver and B to run with the quarterback. On defense, use A to attempt a tackle and B for a dive tackle. Try to anticipate the opponent's play and adjust your formation accordingly. Remember that you have limited time per half, so move quickly and aim for the end zone.

Controls

D-pad: move player; A button: pass (offense) / tackle (defense); B button: run (offense) / dive tackle (defense); Start button: pause game; Select button: change player or call timeout (if applicable).

Trivia

10-Yard Fight was originally an arcade game released by Irem in 1983 before being ported to the NES. It was one of the first football titles on the NES and featured a unique overhead view that differed from the side‑scrolling perspective common in later sports games.
