About This Game
The Legend of Zelda is an action-adventure game where players control Link as he explores the land of Hyrule, dungeons, and defeats Ganon to rescue Princess Zelda.
Story
Link, a young hero, must gather the eight fragments of the Triforce of Wisdom scattered across Hyrule’s dungeons, defeat the evil warlord Ganon, and rescue Princess Zelda.

Begin by acquiring the wooden sword in the starting cave, then explore the overworld to locate the eight dungeons, collect the Triforce of Wisdom pieces, and finally defeat Ganon in Death Mountain to rescue Princess Zelda.
Controls
D-pad: Move; A button: Use sword/selected item; B button: Use secondary item; Start: Pause game; Select: Show map.
Cheats & Passwords
At the title screen, press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A to start with the sword (instead of finding it in the cave).
Trivia
The original NES version was the first home console game to feature a battery-backed save system, allowing players to retain progress. Its iconic overworld theme was composed by Koji Kondo.
