About This Game

The Legend of Zelda is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the NES. Players control the hero Link as he ventures across the overworld and into dungeons to recover the eight pieces of the Triforce of Wisdom and rescue Princess Zelda from the evil Ganon.

Story

Long ago, the golden Triforce was split into three pieces: Power, Wisdom, and Courage. The evil warlord Ganon seized the Triforce of Power and kidnapped Princess Zelda, who had hidden the Triforce of Wisdom in eight scattered fragments. The young hero Link must brave dangers, recover the fragments, and restore peace to Hyrule.

Guide & Tips

Begin in the starting cave, acquire the wooden sword, explore the overworld to locate the entrance to Dungeon 1, collect the map and compass, defeat the boss to obtain the first Triforce piece, repeat for the remaining seven dungeons, upgrading equipment (shield, boomerang, bow, etc.) as you go, and finally infiltrate Ganon's lair in Death Mountain to save Zelda.

Controls

D-pad: Move Link; A Button: Swing sword / use selected item; B Button: Use secondary item; Start: Pause game / open menu; Select: Switch between equipped items.

Trivia

The Legend of Zelda was the first home console game to feature a battery-backed save system, allowing players to retain progress without passwords. Its iconic overworld theme was composed by Kōji Kondō, and the game's gold-colored cartridge became a collector's item.
