About This Game
Adventure Island is a classic side-scrolling platformer for the NES where players control Master Higgins, tasked with rescuing his girlfriend from the Evil King. Known for its challenging gameplay and unique health-depletion mechanic requiring constant fruit collection.
Story
Master Higgins must journey through various islands to rescue his beloved Tina from the Evil King, who has kidnapped her after conquering the peaceful Adventure Island.
Guide & Tips
Collect fruits constantly to maintain health as it drains over time. Master jumping and timing to navigate tricky platforms. Defeat enemies by jumping on them or using weapons found in eggs. Look for hidden passages in suspicious walls. Conserve axes and boomerangs for tough enemy sections.
Controls
D-Pad: Move character. A Button: Jump. B Button: Attack/use item. Start: Pause game.
Cheats & Passwords
Infinite Lives: At title screen, press Up, Down, Up, Down, A, B on Controller 2. Invincibility: During gameplay, pause and press Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A on Controller 1. Level Select: Hold Select while pressing Start at title screen.
Trivia
Adventure Island was originally based on the TurboGrafx-16 game Wonder Boy. Hudson Soft changed the characters and setting for the NES version. The game's protagonist was named after Hudson's promotional mascot Takahashi Meijin.
