About This Game

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a landmark action‑adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. Players control Link as he travels through time to stop the evil Ganondorf and save the kingdom of Hyrule.

Story

Long ago, the prosperous kingdom of Hyrule was protected by the Triforce, a golden relic embodying the virtues of Power, Wisdom, and Courage. The evil warlord Ganondorf seeks to seize the Triforce to conquer the world. A young boy named Link, raised in the Kokiri Forest, is destined to thwart Ganondorf's plans. Guided by the Princess Zelda and the mysterious Sheikah, Link must travel through time, awaken the Seven Sages, and wield the Master Sword to restore peace to Hyrule.

Guide & Tips

Begin in Kokiri Forest, obtain the Kokiri Sword and Deku Shield, then complete the first three dungeons (Inside the Deku Tree, Dodongo's Cavern, and Jabu-Jabu's Belly) to acquire the Spiritual Stones. After receiving the Ocarina of Time, travel to the Temple of Time to draw the Master Sword and become the Hero of Time. Proceed through the seven Sage Temples, freeing each Sage, and finally confront Ganondorf in his castle.

Trivia

• Ocarina of Time was the first Zelda game to feature 3D graphics and real-time combat. • The game’s iconic "Song of Time" melody was composed by Koji Kondo using a simple pentatonic scale. • It won numerous awards, including Game of the Year at the 1998 Interactive Achievement Awards. • A hidden debug room can be accessed by pressing Z + Start on the title screen in some versions. • The game introduced the targeting system (Z-targeting) that became a staple in 3D action games.
