About This Game

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64. Released in 1998, it follows the young hero Link as he travels through time to stop the evil Ganondorf from obtaining the Triforce and conquering Hyrule.

Story

In the land of Hyrule, the evil Gerudo king Ganondorf seeks to claim the Triforce, a divine relic that grants its holder unlimited power. The young Hylian boy Link, raised in the Kokiri Forest, is entrusted with the Quest of the Three Spiritual Stones to prevent Ganondorf's rise. After obtaining the Stones and drawing the Master Sword from the Temple of Time, Link is sealed away for seven years. Upon awakening as an adult, he must conquer the remaining temples, awaken the sages, and ultimately defeat Ganondorf in his castle to restore peace and protect the Triforce.

Guide & Tips

Begin in Kokiri Forest, obtain the Sword and Shield, and complete the introductory dungeon (Inside the Deku Tree). After receiving the Fairy Ocarina, travel to Hyrule Castle to meet Princess Zelda, then pursue the three Spiritual Stones. Each stone is found in a different dungeon: Forest Temple (Forest), Fire Temple (Death Mountain), and Water Temple (Lake Hylia). Collect the Stones, awaken the Master Sword in the Temple of Time, and travel seven years into the future as Adult Link. Complete the remaining temples (Shadow, Spirit, Light) to defeat Ganondorf and restore peace to Hyrule.

Controls

Nintendo 64 Controller: Analog Stick – Move / Aim; C‑Buttons – Camera adjustment (C‑Up look up, C‑Down look down, C‑Left look left, C‑Right look right); A Button – Jump / Attack / Use Item; B Button – Action (talk, pick up, use equipped item); Z Button – Target Lock (Z‑Targeting); R Button – Shield / Raise Weapon; L Button – First‑Person View (when equipped with certain items); Start – Pause Menu.

Trivia

Ocarina of Time was the first 3D entry in The Legend of Zelda series and introduced the innovative Z‑Targeting lock‑on system, which became a staple in 3D action games. It won numerous awards, including Game of the Year from multiple publications, and is frequently cited as one of the greatest video games of all time.
