About This Game
Popeye is an NES action platformer where the sailor hero must collect hearts thrown by Olive Oyl while avoiding Bluto and other hazards.
Story
Olive Oyl has been kidnapped by the brute Bluto. Popeye must venture through various scenes—docks, streets, and a ship—collecting the hearts she throws to prove his love and rescue her.
Guide & Tips
Use the D-pad to move Popeye left/right and up/down on ladders. Press A to punch enemies or break obstacles, B to jump. Collect all hearts on each stage to proceed. Avoid contact with Bluto, the Sea Hag, and falling objects. Reach the end of the level to finish.
Controls
D-pad: Move; A: Punch; B: Jump; Start: Pause; Select: (no function).
Trivia
The NES version of Popeye was one of the earliest licensed cartoon games on the system, released in 1986 by Nintendo.
