About This Game
Battle City (known as 坦克大战 in China) is a classic top‑down shooter where the player controls a tank to defend their base from waves of enemy tanks.
Story
The player commands a lone tank tasked with protecting their headquarters from an invading army of enemy tanks. Each level presents a new wave of foes that attempt to destroy the base; survival depends on tactical positioning, quick reflexes, and smart use of the battlefield's destructible terrain.
Guide & Tips
1. Move your tank with the D‑pad and fire with the A button. 2. Use bricks and steel walls as cover; steel walls cannot be destroyed. 3. Prioritize destroying enemy tanks that are heading straight for your base. 4. Collect the flashing power‑ups that appear after destroying certain enemies: they grant temporary abilities like a shield, rapid fire, or a bomb that clears the screen. 5. If your base is destroyed, the game ends; try to keep at least one layer of bricks around it. 6. In later stages, enemy tanks become faster and start shooting back more aggressively—stay mobile and avoid lingering in open areas.

Trivia
• Battle City was originally released in Japan in 1985 under the name 'Tank Battalion' before being renamed for the NES release. • It was one of the first NES games to feature a two‑player simultaneous mode (alternating turns). • The game's iconic 'brick' walls inspired many later titles' destructible environments. • A sequel, 'Battle City 2', was announced but never officially released outside of a few prototype cartridges.
