About This Game
Romance of the Three Kingdoms II (known in Chinese as 吞食天地2) is a turn-based strategy RPG released for the NES/Famicom, based on Luo Guanzhong's classic novel. Players take control of various warlords, manage resources, recruit generals, and engage in battles to unify ancient China.
Story
Set in the turbulent final years of the Eastern Han Dynasty, the game follows the rise and fall of legendary warlords such as Cao Cao, Liu Bei, and Sun Quan. Players must balance internal development with military conquest, forging alliances and betrayals in a struggle to unite the fractured lands of ancient China under a single ruler.
Guide & Tips
1. Start the game and choose a scenario or create a new campaign. 2. Use the D‑pad to navigate the map and select cities or units. 3. Press A to confirm actions such as building facilities, recruiting troops, or moving armies. 4. Press B to cancel or go back to the previous menu. 5. In the city screen, manage agriculture, commerce, and technology to increase income and troop capacity. 6. When encountering enemy forces, enter battle mode: position your units, issue orders with A, and resolve combat automatically. 7. Press Start to pause the game and access the main menu (save, load, options). 8. Press Select to switch between different map views or skip dialogue sequences.
Controls
D‑pad: Move cursor / select unit; A button: Confirm / select action; B button: Cancel / back; Start: Pause / open menu; Select: Switch view / skip dialogue.
Trivia
The game was originally released in Japan as 'Sangokushi II' and later received an unofficial Chinese translation by 同能网, making it one of the earliest Chinese-localized NES RPGs. The ROM size is 5 megabits (approximately 625 KB).
