About This Game
Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade is a tactical role-playing game developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo for Game Boy Advance. It is the seventh installment in the Fire Emblem series and the first to be released outside of Japan.
Story
The story follows three main narrative paths: Lyn's Tale, Eliwood's Tale, and Hector's Tale. Lyn, a nomadic warrior from the Sacae plains, discovers her noble heritage and must fight to claim her birthright. Eliwood, a noble of Pherae, searches for his missing father, uncovering a dark plot that threatens the continent. Hector, Eliwood's friend, joins the quest and provides a different perspective on the events.
Guide & Tips
The game features two story routes: Eliwood's route (Lion/Lycian route) and Hector's route (Dragon route). Players can choose between Lord Eliwood or Lord Hector as the main protagonist. The game includes a weapon triangle system (swords beat axes, axes beat lances, lances beat swords) and support system that builds relationships between characters.
Controls
D-pad: Move cursor/select menu option. A button: Confirm/Select/Attack. B button: Cancel/Back. R button: Speed up text/animation. L button: View character status. Start: Open main menu. Select: View map information.
Cheats & Passwords
Unlock Hector's route: Complete Eliwood's route first. Unlock Lyndis (Lyn's) route: Start a new game and choose "Lyn's Story" from the main menu. Debug Menu: Hold L + R + Start at the title screen.
Trivia
This was the first Fire Emblem game released outside Japan, establishing the franchise in Western markets. The character Roy would later appear as a playable character in Super Smash Bros. Melee. The game was designed to be accessible to new players, with a tutorial prologue featuring Lyn.
