About This Game
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance is a tactical role-playing game developed by Square Enix for the Game Boy Advance. Released in 2003, it combines strategic grid-based combat with job class customization in the fantasy world of Ivalice.
Story
Marche Radiuju and his friends are transported from the real world into the magical realm of Ivalice through an ancient grimoire. They discover that their actions have begun altering reality, and Marche must choose between staying in this fantasy world with his comrades or finding a way back home while restoring the original timeline.
Guide & Tips
Master the Judge system by understanding each law before battle. Focus on leveling weaker units to unlock better jobs faster. Use the Dispatch missions to earn AP while offline. Position units carefully as elevation affects accuracy and damage. Save frequently due to permadeath mechanics.
Controls
D-Pad: Move cursor/select units. A: Confirm/select actions. B: Cancel/go back. L/R: Rotate camera/change weapon view. Start: Pause menu. Select: Toggle unit info. In battle: Move to position, press A to select action from menu (Attack, Abilities, Item, Wait).
Cheats & Passwords
JP version has internal debug menu accessible through save file editing. Action Replay code 02000001 00000000 unlocks all laws. Use 'Move 10' glitch by having units learn Move 10 via Beastmaster before JP version patches. Character recruitment: recruit monsters by reducing their HP and using proper skills.
Trivia
FFTA was the first Final Fantasy game entirely dedicated to tactical combat. The JP version featured additional content not present in international releases. The game's law system was inspired by chess rules. Composer Hitoshi Sakimoto later worked on Final Fantasy XII, which shares the Ivalice universe.
