About This Game
Final Fantasy IV Advance is a GBA port of the classic SNES RPG originally released in 1991. It features the revolutionary Active Time Battle (ATB) system, memorable characters, and an emotionally-driven story of redemption and heroism.
Story
Follow Cecil, the dark knight of Baron, as he questions his orders to attack innocent villages. After a confrontation with his king, Cecil embarks on a journey of redemption, gathering allies including the white mage Rosa, the dragoon Kain, the young summoner Rydia, and others. Together they must stop the evil sorcerer Golbez and save the world from destruction.
Guide & Tips
Focus on balancing your party composition - include both physical attackers and magic users. Pay attention to the element system and use appropriate spells against different enemies. Save often as some boss battles can be challenging. The Augment system in this version allows you to learn abilities from removed party members by completing side quests.
Controls
GBA: D-Pad - Move/Select; A Button - Confirm/Attack; B Button - Cancel/Run; L/R Buttons - Switch between party members in menu; Start - Open menu; Select - Switch active character in battle.
Cheats & Passwords
Known exploits include the 'Samurai' glitch which allows infinite Gil farming, and various password/cheat device codes. The game also features a New Game+ mode after completing the game once.
Trivia
Final Fantasy IV was the first game in the series to introduce the Active Time Battle system, which became a hallmark of the franchise. The GBA version includes the 'Augment' system not present in the original SNES release, allowing players to learn abilities from former party members. The game was originally released in Japan as 'Final Fantasy II' due to the first two games not being released there at that time.
