Story

Adol Christin hears rumors of a demon army invading the peaceful kingdom of Ys. He travels to the land to investigate, discovering that the evil priest Dalles has resurrected the ancient demon god and plans to unleash chaos upon the world. Armed with his trusty sword, Adol must fight through hordes of monsters, defeat Dalles’ minions, and ultimately confront the demon god to restore peace to Ys.

Trivia

Ys III was the first entry in the series to abandon the top‑down viewpoint in favor of side‑scrolling action gameplay, a shift that influenced many later action‑RPGs. The SNES version features an arranged soundtrack that differs from the original PC‑Engine release.
