About This Game
Pokémon Gold is a role-playing game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Color. It is the second installment in the Pokémon series, introducing the Johto region, a day-and-night cycle, and Pokémon breeding.
Story
Set three years after the events of Pokémon Red and Blue, the player starts as a young trainer in Johto's New Bark Town. Guided by Professor Elm, the protagonist sets out to complete the Pokédex, defeat the Gym Leaders, thwart the plans of Team Rocket, and ultimately challenge the Champion Lance to become the new Champion of Johto and Kanto.
Guide & Tips
Begin in New Bark Town, choose one of the three starter Pokémon (Chikorita, Cyndaquil, or Totodile). Follow the journey to collect eight Gym Badges, defeat the Elite Four, and become the Champion. Use the Pokégear to track time, check your map, and contact friends. Remember to save frequently at Pokémon Centers.

D-Pad: Move character; A Button: Confirm/select; B Button: Cancel/back; Start Button: Open menu; Select Button: No default function (can be remapped in some versions).
Trivia
Pokémon Gold was the first game in the series to introduce a real-time clock, enabling day-and-night cycles, time-based events, and the Pokémon breeding mechanic. It also allowed players to connect with Pokémon Crystal via the Time Capsule for trading Pokémon between generations.
