About This Game
Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride is a celebrated RPG that follows the hero from childhood through adulthood, featuring a deep story, monster recruitment, and a unique marriage system that lets the player's choices affect future generations.
Story
The hero is the son of the legendary warrior Pankraz and his wife Madhero. After a monster attack destroys their home and kills Pankraz, the young hero is separated from his mother and raised by a kind adoptee. Years later, he sets out to uncover the truth behind the attack, rescue his mother, and fulfill his destiny. Along the way he can fall in love, marry, and have children who will eventually join him in the final battle against the evil force threatening the world.
Guide & Tips
Begin in the village of Whealbrook, assist your father Pankraz, and survive the tragedy that separates you from your family. Grow up, embark on a quest to find your missing mother, recruit monsters to aid you, and eventually choose a bride (Bianca, Nera, or Debora). After marriage, raise your children who can join your party in the final act. Focus on leveling up, acquiring strong equipment, and using the monster recruitment mechanic to gain powerful allies.
Controls
D-Pad: Move character; A Button: Confirm action / talk / interact; B Button: Cancel / open menu; Start Button: Pause game / open status screen; Select Button: Switch between items in inventory.
Trivia
Dragon Quest V was the first game in the series to introduce a marriage system where the player's choice of spouse affects the appearance and abilities of their children, who can later join the party. It also pioneered the monster recruitment mechanic that allows enemies to become allies.
