About This Game
Dragon Quest IV: Chapters of the Chosen is the fourth installment in the beloved Dragon Quest series, remade for the Nintendo DS with enhanced graphics, full voice acting, and additional content.
Story
Dragon Quest IV follows five separate protagonists whose stories intertwine as they each confront a growing darkness. The tale begins with the heroic knight Ragnar, continues with the spirited princess Alena, the ambitious merchant Torneko, the twin performers Maya and Meena, and culminates in the silent Hero who must unite the champions to defeat the evil sorcerer Psaro and restore peace to the world.
Guide & Tips
Play through the five chapters in order: 1) Ragnar McRyan’s tale, 2) Alena’s adventure, 3) Torneko’s merchant story, 4) Maya & Meena’s circus chapter, and finally 5) the Hero’s journey. Talk to NPCs frequently, use the Party Talk button (Y) to learn hints and character backgrounds, and save often at churches. In the final chapter, gather all five heroes, equip the best gear, and defeat the demon lord Psaro.
Controls
D-Pad: Move character; A: Confirm / Interact; B: Cancel / Open menu; X: Open main menu; Y: Party Talk (chat with companions); L/R: Scroll through menus or switch screens; Touch Screen: Select options, navigate maps, and use shortcuts.
Trivia
This DS remake was the first Dragon Quest game to feature full voice acting for all major characters. It also introduced the 'Party Talk' system, allowing companions to chat and provide hints during gameplay. The remake includes an expanded chapter for Torneko and several new mini‑games not present in the original Super Famicom version.
