About This Game
Romance of the Three Kingdoms IV is a turn-based grand strategy game set during the turbulent late Eastern Han dynasty and Three Kingdoms period of China.
Story
The game follows the historical narrative of the late Eastern Han dynasty, beginning with the Yellow Turban Rebellion and chronicling the rise of the warring factions that eventually formed the three kingdoms of Wei, Shu, and Wu. Players can rewrite history by altering key events, forging new alliances, or crushing rivals to achieve unification.
Guide & Tips
Begin by selecting a lord (e.g., Cao Cao, Liu Bei, Sun Jian) and a starting scenario. Manage your territories by developing agriculture, commerce, and technology. Recruit officers, assign them to posts, and build relationships through diplomacy, marriage, or alliances. When ready, raise armies and engage in turn-based battles on the hexagonal map, using tactics such as flanking, ambushes, and siege warfare. Balance internal affairs with external conquest to unify China under your rule.

D-pad: Move cursor / navigate menus; X: Confirm / select; O: Cancel / back; L1/R1: Switch between map views (strategic, tactical, officer); L2/R2: Scroll the map; Start: Open pause menu; Select: Display help/tooltips.
Trivia
This PlayStation version was the first in the Sangokushi series to include full-motion video (FMV) cutscenes, featuring voice‑acted historical figures and dramatic battle scenes.
