About This Game

Sangokushi Eiketsuden (known as Tong Shi Tian Di I) is a turn-based RPG for the NES set during the chaotic era of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Players recruit famous generals, manage armies, capture cities, and strive to unify China under their chosen ruler.

Story

Set in the late Eastern Han dynasty, the game follows the power struggle among the three major warlords—Liu Bei, Cao Cao, and Sun Quan—as they vie for control of China. Players choose a leader, forge alliances, betray rivals, and ultimately seek to unite the fractured realm under their banner.

Guide & Tips

Begin by selecting a starting warlord (Liu Bei, Cao Cao, or Sun Quan). Travel between towns to gather troops, buy equipment, and accept quests. Combat is turn‑based: choose actions like Attack, Skill, or Defend for each unit. Use the menu to save via passwords. Focus on upgrading your generals' loyalty and equipment to win tougher battles.

Trivia

Tong Shi Tian Di I was the first Chinese-language RPG released for the NES. Its fan translation by the group "Alien Technology" (外星科技) made the game widely playable outside of Taiwan, and it used a password‑based save system instead of battery backup.
