About This Game

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past is an action-adventure game developed and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1991. It is the third installment in the Zelda series and introduces the Light and Dark Worlds, expanding the gameplay and narrative depth.

Story

An evil wizard named Agahnim seizes control of Hyrule and begins to break the seal that imprisons the Dark World's ruler, Ganon. Guided by the dying King's telepathic message, Link sets out to retrieve the three Pendants of Virtue, defeat Agahnim, and enter the Dark World to rescue the seven Maidens descended from the sages. With the Master Sword in hand, Link confronts Ganon in his tower, defeats him, and saves Princess Zelda, restoring peace to the kingdom.

Guide & Tips

Begin in Kakariko Village, obtain the Sword and Shield, then explore the Light World to collect the three Pendants of Virtue. After defeating Agahnim, enter the Dark World to rescue the seven Maidens and retrieve the Master Sword. Progress through dungeons, collect heart pieces, and ultimately confront Ganon in his tower to save Princess Zelda and restore peace to Hyrule.

Controls

D‑Pad: Move Link / Highlight menu options A Button: Swing sword / Confirm selection B Button: Use equipped item / Cancel Start: Pause game / Open map Select: Switch between secondary items (when applicable)

Cheats & Passwords

The game does not contain any built‑in cheat codes accessible via the controller. To enable cheats such as infinite hearts, infinite ammo, or debug features, players must use external devices like a Game Genie or Action Replay with appropriate codes (e.g., Game Genie code 'AEAA-6FAE' for infinite hearts).

Trivia

The game introduced the concept of a parallel Dark World, which would become a recurring theme in later Zelda titles. It was also the first Zelda game to feature a battery‑backed save system, allowing players to save their progress without passwords.
