About This Game

Front Mission is a turn-based tactical RPG developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System in 1995. Players command squads of customizable mechs called Wanzers, navigating a grid-based battlefield while managing resources, unit upgrades, and story-driven missions set in a near-future geopolitical conflict.

Trivia

Front Mission was the first game in the long-running Wanzer franchise and introduced the series’ signature modular mech customization system. Though it debuted on the SNES, the title later saw enhanced ports on the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, and Nintendo DS, and inspired a remake titled Front Mission 1st for the Nintendo Switch in 2022. The game’s original Japanese title is 'フロントミッション' and its soundtrack was composed by acclaimed composer Yoko Shimomura.
