About This Game

Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is an action‑role‑playing game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1987. Unlike the top‑down exploration of the original Zelda, this sequel adopts a side‑scrolling format, combining platform‑action with RPG elements such as experience points, magic spells, and a level‑up system.

Story

After defeating Ganon in the original adventure, Link learns that Princess Zelda has fallen into a deep sleep caused by a mysterious spell. To awaken her, Link must venture across Hyrule, locate six hidden palaces, and retrieve the crystals that seal the spell. Along the way he faces new foes, gains experience, and masters powerful magic to ultimately break the curse and save the kingdom.

Guide & Tips

Begin by exploring the overworld to locate the six palaces. Inside each palace, defeat the boss to obtain a crystal. Collect all six crystals to break the spell on Princess Zelda. Talk to townspeople for hints, buy items and magic from shops, and level up by gaining experience from defeated enemies. Use the map (Select) to keep track of visited areas and return to previously cleared palaces for extra rewards.

Controls

D‑Pad: Move Link (left/right) and crouch/jump (down/up). A Button: Jump / use selected item. B Button: Swing sword / attack. Start Button: Pause game / open menu. Select Button: Display map.

Trivia

Zelda II was the first game in the series to use side‑scrolling gameplay and to incorporate RPG mechanics such as experience points, magic, and a level‑up system. It also introduced a password‑based continue system, allowing players to resume progress without saving to a cartridge.
