About This Game
Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon of the Light is the first installment in the tactical RPG series developed by Intelligent Systems and published by Nintendo. This Famicom/NES game was originally released in Japan in 1989.
Story
The game is set on the continent of Archanea and follows Prince Marth of Altea as he seeks to reclaim his homeland from the dark sorcerer Garnef and revive the legendary hero Anri to defeat the dark dragon Medeus.
Guide & Tips
Fire Emblem requires strategic positioning of units, careful resource management, and understanding of weapon advantages and disadvantages. Players should prioritize protecting high-value units like Lord Marth and healers. Each unit has limited movement per turn and can only attack adjacent enemies.
Controls
NES standard controls - Directional pad for movement, A button for confirm/attack, B button for cancel/menu, Start to open main menu, Select for character information.
Trivia
Fire Emblem was created by Shouzou Kaga and was inspired by his experiences playing tactical war games. This NES title was never officially released outside Japan, though it was later remade as Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon for DS in 2008. Marth would become one of the first characters from Fire Emblem to appear in Super Smash Bros. Melee.
