About This Game
G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero is a side-scrolling action game where players control members of the elite G.I. Joe team to thwart Cobra's evil schemes across multiple stages.
Story
The evil terrorist organization Cobra has launched a plan to conquer the world using a stolen weather control device. The G.I. Joe team is deployed to infiltrate Cobra's bases, recover the device, and stop their nefarious scheme before it's too late.
Guide & Tips
The game consists of six stages, each ending with a boss fight. Use the D-pad to move, A to fire your primary weapon, B to jump or use a secondary weapon. Collect power-ups scattered throughout the levels to upgrade your firepower and gain extra lives. Defeat all enemies and reach the boss to clear the stage.
Controls
D-pad: Move character; A Button: Fire primary weapon / Use item; B Button: Jump / Use secondary weapon; Start: Pause game; Select: (used with Start for level select).
Cheats & Passwords
At the title screen, input the Konami code: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, then press Start to gain 30 lives. Additionally, holding Select while pressing Start at the title screen enables level select.
Trivia
The NES version was developed by Taxan and released in 1991. It was one of the few early licensed games to feature a password-like continue system using button combinations at the title screen.
