About This Game

A side‑scrolling action platformer featuring Kitaro, the yokai boy from the classic GeGeGe no Kitaro series, as he battles various monsters to save Monster Island.

Story

When a strange surge of dark energy awakens ancient yokai across Monster Island, Kitaro is summoned by the Spirit World to restore balance. Armed with his iconic hair‑needle and the help of his friends Medama‑Oyaji and Nezumi‑Otoko, he must traverse haunted forests, ruined shrines, and stormy seas to seal the source of the chaos before it engulfs both the human and yokai realms.

Guide & Tips

Use the D‑Pad to move Kitaro left/right and to crouch. Press A to jump and attack with his hair‑needle, B to use special yokai powers when available. Collect power‑ups and hearts to extend life. Defeat bosses by learning their patterns and striking when they expose weak points.

Controls

Trivia

The game was released exclusively in Japan in 2005 and features an original soundtrack composed by Kōhei Tanaka, known for his work on many anime series. Despite its limited distribution, it has gained a cult following among fans of the GeGeGe no Kitaro franchise.
