About This Game
Pokémon Ruby is a role-playing video game developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance. It is the first installment in the third generation of the Pokémon series.
Story
The story takes place in the Hoenn region where the player character moves from a different region to start a new life. The player becomes a Pokémon Trainer, journeys through Hoenn, battles Gym Leaders, and aims to challenge the Pokémon League. Along the way, they encounter Team Magma, who seeks to expand land by awakening Groudon.
Guide & Tips
Start by choosing between Treecko, Torchic, or Mudkip as your starter Pokémon. Complete the eight Gym badges and defeat the Elite Four to become the Pokémon League Champion. Explore the region of Hoenn, capture and train various Pokémon, and complete the Pokédex by discovering all 202 Pokémon available in this version.
Controls
Directional Pad - Move character/menu selection; A Button - Confirm/Interact; B Button - Cancel/Back; Start - Open menu; Select - Switch between Pokémon in party.
Cheats & Passwords
To get unlimited Master Balls, use the Gameshark code: 820258400044. To encounter Shiny Pokémon more frequently, try the code: 7E050F8C E66E9BF1. To capture any Pokémon easily, use the Master Ball trick: throw the Master Ball, then press and hold Up + B + Select before the ball closes.
Trivia
Pokémon Ruby introduced Abilities to the series, which are special attributes that affect Pokémon in battle. The game features 202 Pokémon, which is fewer than previous generations but includes many new ones like Torchic and Mudkip. The player's mother in this game is unique as she calls to check on the player's progress using the PokéNav.
