A.S.P. - Air Strike Patrol (USA)
About This Game
A.S.P. - Air Strike Patrol is a 1992 Super Nintendo flight combat simulator that places players in the cockpit of an allied fighter jet during the Gulf War. The game blends mission‑based air‑strike planning with real‑time fuel and damage management, requiring players to navigate to waypoints, lock onto enemy targets, and return safely to base.
Story
Set during Operation Desert Storm, A.S.P. - Air Strike Patrol casts you as an allied pilot tasked with striking key Iraqi installations—airfields, radar sites, and supply convoys—to weaken enemy defenses and support ground forces. Each mission reflects real‑world strategic objectives of the Gulf War air campaign.
Guide & Tips
1. Select a mission from the briefing screen and note the primary and secondary objectives. 2. Take off using the runway; keep the aircraft level with the D‑pad. 3. Navigate to the first waypoint shown on the radar; use the D‑pad to steer and the X button to toggle between map and cockpit views. 4. When an enemy target appears, press B to lock on, then hold A to fire your machine gun or press B again to launch a missile. 5. Avoid anti‑aircraft fire by weaving (D‑pad) and using Y to deploy chaff/flares when warned. 6. Monitor your fuel gauge (top‑left) and damage meter (top‑right); return to base before fuel runs out. 7. Land on the runway by aligning with the landing lights and gently pressing down on the D‑pad while reducing throttle (release A/B). 8. Complete all objectives to earn points and unlock the next mission.

Trivia
The game was released in Japan under the title 'Desert Fighter' and featured a real‑time clock that affected mission visibility and enemy behavior. A hidden debug mode can be accessed at the title screen by holding L+R and pressing Start, which displays coordinates, fuel levels, and enemy spawn timers.
