About This Game
Double Dragon (known as 快打旋风 in Chinese) is a side-scrolling beat 'em up game originally released in arcades by Technos Japan and ported to the NES. Players control martial artists Billy or Jimmy Lee as they fight through city streets to rescue their girlfriend Marian from the villainous Black Warriors gang.
Story
The Lee brothers, Billy and Jimmy, are martial artists whose girlfriend Marian is kidnapped by the ruthless Black Warriors gang. To save her, they must fight their way through the city’s streets, factories, and docks, defeating waves of thugs and ultimately facing the gang’s leader, Willy.
Guide & Tips
1. Learn enemy patterns: each foe has a tell before attacking; dodge or counter. 2. Use throws: grapple enemies (press A near them) and throw them into others for extra damage. 3. Keep moving: staying still makes you an easy target; use the screen scroll to your advantage. 4. Two‑player coordination: player 2 can cover player 1’s back; revive a fallen partner by standing over them and pressing A. 5. Save your special moves for tougher foes or boss encounters.

D‑Pad: Move / Crouch / Look up A Button: Punch / Kick / Grab (when near enemy) B Button: Jump Start Button: Pause / Unpause Select Button: (Unused in this title)
Trivia
• Double Dragon was one of the first beat 'em up titles to bring cooperative two‑player gameplay to the NES. • The game’s title comes from the Lee brothers being regarded as "dragons" in martial arts lore. • Although the NES version omits some arcade moves (like the elbow strike), it introduced the iconic "hurricane kick" as a special attack. • The soundtrack was composed by Kazunaka Yamane, whose work helped define the NES action game sound of the late 1980s.
