About This Game
Willow is an action‑RPG/adventure game for the NES based on the 1988 fantasy film of the same name. Players control the titular hero Willow Ufgood as he battles monsters, solves puzzles, and protects the infant Elora Danan from the evil Queen Bavmorda.
Story
The peaceful Nelwyn village is threatened when the evil Queen Bavmorda seeks to destroy a prophesied child who will bring about her downfall. Willow Ufgood, a humble farmer and aspiring sorcerer, is tasked with safeguarding the infant Elora Danan and delivering her to the forces of good, embarking on a perilous journey across forests, caves, and castles.
Guide & Tips
Begin by talking to villagers in Nelwyn Valley to receive your first sword. Explore the overworld map, enter dungeons to collect key items (the Magic Shield, the Fireball Spell, etc.). Defeat each boss to obtain a piece of the Dragon’s Eye. Once all pieces are gathered, confront Queen Bavmorda in her castle. Use the A button to attack, B to jump, and combine items from the inventory (Start) to solve puzzles.
Controls
D‑Pad: Move character. A Button: Swing sword / use equipped weapon. B Button: Jump. Start: Pause / open inventory. Select: Cycle through equipped items or bring up the map (depending on version).
Trivia
The NES version of Willow was developed and published by Capcom in 1989, making it one of the few film‑licensed titles the company produced for Nintendo’s 8‑bit console. The game’s soundtrack was composed by Yasuaki Fujita, who also worked on Capcom’s Mega Man series.
