About This Game
Donkey Kong Jr. is a classic arcade-style platformer where players control Donkey Kong's son, Junior, as he navigates various stages to rescue his father from the clutches of Mario.
Story
After Mario captured Donkey Kong in the original game, the angry ape’s son, Donkey Kong Jr., sets out on a daring quest to free his father. He must climb, jump, and swing through a series of construction‑site stages, avoiding Mario’s traps and minions, to reach the key that unlocks Donkey Kong’s cage.
Guide & Tips
Use the D-pad to move Junior left/right and up/down ladders or vines. Press A to jump over obstacles and enemies. Press B to grab onto vines or chains when nearby. Avoid enemies such as Snapjaws and Nitpickers, and collect fruit for bonus points. Reach the key at the top of each stage to free Donkey Kong and progress to the next level.
Controls
D-pad: Move Junior; A Button: Jump; B Button: Grab vines/chains; Start: Pause; Select: Toggle between 1‑player and 2‑player alternating mode.
Trivia
Donkey Kong Jr. was one of the earliest NES titles to offer an alternating two‑player mode, allowing friends to take turns playing Junior. The game’s iconic ‘hammer’ power‑up from the original Donkey Kong does not appear; instead, Junior relies solely on his agility.
