About This Game
Battle City (Chinese title: 坦克大战) is a classic NES top-down shooter where the player controls a tank to protect their base from waves of enemy tanks.
Story
In a futuristic battlefield, the player commands a lone tank tasked with defending the headquarters—symbolized by an eagle—against relentless waves of enemy armored units. Survival depends on quick reflexes and strategic use of terrain and power‑ups.
Guide & Tips
Use the D-pad to move your tank. Press the A button to fire a shell. Destroy all enemy tanks while preventing them from destroying your base (the eagle). Collect power‑ups that appear after defeating certain enemies to gain temporary advantages such as extra armor or rapid fire. The game ends when your base is destroyed or you clear all levels.
Controls
D‑pad: Move tank; A Button: Fire; B Button: (no function in default mode); Start: Pause / Start game; Select: Choose 1‑player or 2‑player mode.
Trivia
Battle City was developed and published by Namco in 1985. It later inspired numerous clones and was included in many Namco museum compilations; the game’s iconic ‘egg’ base became a recognizable symbol in retro gaming.
